2017 Board of Directors
KEVIN CARTER, CHAIRMAN
Kevin is a lifelong Chicago area resident coming from a background in both high school and college sports. Kevin is not a stranger to demanding physical activates, team work, commitment and fun. Nine years ago after he decided it was time to tackle a new sport he purchased his first bike from “Walmart” and in 2012 Kevin realized cycling was not only fun but a way of life. He then purchased his first roadbike from “Kozy”. After training and strengthening with others and on his own Kevin was able to step it up to the ultimate level and join Major Taylor in 2014. Two years and three bikes later. Kevin is now our 2017 Major Taylor President.
When Kevin is not planning and taking part in ride events you can best believe he is still active. After attending Illinois State University (ISU) majoring in marketing/engineering, Kevin realized he wanted a career that provided him with an active lifestyle and the ability to create his own path. In 2011 Kevin graduated from Cortiva Institute School of Message Therapy. Kevin works for Spine and Sports Center of Chicago where he is the Sports and Medical Therapist. He also serves as a private therapist to several businesses and personal accounts both in and around the Chicagoland area.
Outside of work and cycling you can find Kevin as many would say “bargain shopping”. Kevin enjoys building and updating not only his own bikes but others as well. He is also known for blowing off steam at the gun range as well.
SUSAN ROGERS, TREASURER
I have lived in Chicago all of my life other than going away to college. I consider myself a biker since 1980 when, on a whim, I rode down the coast of California on Route 1 from San Francisco to LA without cleats, bike shorts or bike jerseys! I have been hooked on biking since and have gone on several bike vacations, ridden multiple centuries+ , and competed in triathlons, marathons and swam competitively with Masters Swimming. I am married with 2 grown daughters and have a grandson. I have been a member of Major Taylor for 3 years. I have been a member of the membership/events committee last year and was chair of the post holiday party in Jan 2017. I am currently the treasurer. I am a retired physician from Stroger Hospital of Cook County but continue to teach medical students at Rush University Medical school and to practice clinical medicine at Stroger Hospital.
BILL GASTON, CLUB CAPTAIN
Bill has been a member of Major Taylor for 2 years. He is an Application developer by day and a weekend warrior in his free time. Bill met Chuck Irven on the lake front path and during their ride Chuck told him about Major Taylor and MTC3. After Bill found the Facebook fan page he got a good feel for the club and its members and knew he wanted to be a part of this club.
Several years ago Bill used to be the Illinois Chapter President and the Midwest Coordinator for the Christian Sport Bike Association. In his time of leadership Bill learned how to lead a social group, how to plan motorcycle rides that were safe and exciting for riders of various skill levels. Bill also learned how to grow their organization throughout the Midwest region where the club didn’t existed. He enjoyed time as president in the CSBA and that is why he decided to run for Club Captain for the Major Taylor Cycling Club Chicago.
His position on the Major Taylor Cycling Club Chicago is his first official board assignment. In the past, he has assisted the club with board development and strategic planning support. Bill is looking forward to helping the Club President meet his goals and meet the needs of the membership. He is committed to providing the membership value and an enjoyable riding experience every time they come out and ride

Brenda was born and raised on the south side of Chicago and is a graduate of Lindblom Tech HS. She started cycling four years ago because she hated running but needed to lose weight. Within two years she purchased her first Trek carbon cyclocross road bike (named Pepper) and finished her first metric century. The next year she purchased her second road bike and named her Spice. Brenda completed her first century ride last year in Maryland at the Salisbury Century ride and looks forward to many more.
Brenda leads a ride every Monday night that is a great ride for the advanced rider as well as the novice rider. She will personally will stay with and ride with any beginner rider that comes out for for the first time on her Monday night no matter how slow their pace. .
Brenda brings over twenty years of experience as a K-12 educator and administrator to her role on the board. Her position on the Major Taylor Cycling Club Chicago is her first official board assignment.
